The 14th Amendment

Section 1.
All persons born or naturalized in the united states, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the united states and of the state wherein they reside. No state shall make or enforce and law which shall abridge the privileges or immunity of citizens of liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.

This amendment made all the African Americans that the 13th amendment freed into citizens of the united states, and to those states that they reside in.

 I think that this cartoon is completely true because even though it made them citizens, they still didn't have the same rights as the whites did, and led to extreme segregation of the races.

I think it's interesting how an amendment that was originally for helping the former slaves become citizens, is now being used to try and battle abortion.
