The 13th Amendment

Section 1.
Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the united states, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.

Section 2.
Congress shall have power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation.

This amendment freed the slaves and made it illegal in the united states for anyone to do involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for a crime.

 I think that this picture is ironical that it is ironic that it is labeled the 13th amendment with Lincoln's picture because even though Lincoln helped with freeing slaves with his emancipation, it didn't really do anything.

I thought that this cartoon really did emphasize what the 13th amendment did in the short-term because of the slaves being free in the south, the KKK went on the rise and began lynching people
